How did you start bartending?

I have been in the service industry from the age of 14. The moment I was able to get a job, I started working at a local restaurant in my hometown Alliance, NE, as a server. I started bartending as “soon as I could.” I have worked in every type of bar that there is, from nightclubs to sports and neighborhood bars to corporate and locally owned restaurants. 


What is your favorite cocktail/spirit?

I wouldn’t say I have a favorite, but my go-to is definitely whiskey…in a cup. 


Why did you continue bartending?

Okay, truth be told, when I started working at Berry & Rye, I was on my way out of bartending. I was in school studying exercise science and was very excited to get certified in personal training and get out of the “night life.” The guys at Berry (including Mr. Wilson) showed me something completely different and lit the fire of love that I now have for this community. I spent only a few months working for a gym before I realized that I still loved ‘tending and spirits and that my future was definitely in the industry I’m in today!


What do you love about being a bartender?

I think my favorite part about being a bartender is being able to be myself! I get to just be me, as I am. I’m extremely active and having a job that keeps me moving and not sedentary is really great and keeps me content. I could never sit still at a desk or be told that I am not allowed to express myself. 


If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

WOW, the list is huge. I love to travel, but my ultimate goal is to summit Annapurna in Nepal before I turn 40, although, I would never pass up a trip anywhere where I can challenge myself. I’m not much of a city girl, although I do enjoy a day or two eating and drinking in new markets. My true love is being outdoors in the mountains or the desert- sleeping in a tent or under the stars, preferably with no cell phone reception or people around for miles. 


What hobbies do you have outside of work?

I love lifting weights, rock climbing, going for runs, camping, playing whatever sports I can get myself into. I also enjoy eating good food, good books, and challenging my friends to arm-wrestle me.  


What do you like about working at the Berry and Rye?

The best part about working at Berry & Rye is the people! I get to work with the BEST people, and WOW, do we get the most BEAUTIFUL guests!


Do you have any pets?

Yes! I have the most sweetest, fluffiest, fattest Main Coon baby. His name is Smokey.


Tequila or Mezcal?

Come Party ‘cause we got the Funk! {Mezcal}


Rye or Bourbon?

Tough choice but I’ll vote for Rye today…


What’s your favorite Irish Whiskey?

Tillamoor Dew, obviously!


What lives in the shakers on the wall of Berry and Rye?

Legend has it the antique cocktail shakers contain the remains of B&R’s past employees, although, we have repurposed the ol’ shakers to incarcerate all the pretentious bartender egos. Once we extract every single one from all over the world, we will repurpose them to cultivate our own death star….


How confident are you that you’re going to win Iron Bartender?

Oh boy, considering one of my pals/mentors is my competitor…I’m 100% in it for the fun…
